Uh-Oh, BHLDN Moodboards!

I am sure you've been to BHLDN's website by now. If you haven't, here are some situations in which a visit is a must:
If you are
1. Planning your wedding,
2. Helping plan a wedding,
3. In a wedding,
4. Married, but still addicted to all things "wedding."

(FYI, Category four is perfectly acceptable.)

Then you must take a look at the mood board tool. You can gather inspirational images from your own collection of those of BHLDN's, and make a board to guide you through planning process. Or you can do what I did and spend hours making boards and wishing you were a foot model so you could wear all those fabulous Chie Mihara and Vivenne Westwood shoes for a paycheck.
It was so easy! You can make them "public," or "private.' Work on them as long as you like to get your desired effect.
Here are mine:
I call this first one "Dance with Me."

The next one is called "Soft Surprises." It's very textural, and soft to the eye. A few things are soft to the touch. Guess what they are.

And this last one tells our story. I call it "Let's run away together."

Can be found [here].

We didn't really run away together, though. We stayed here.  It turned out eloping isn't as romantic as it sounds...but it makes for a great mood board!

BTW, the BHLDN store opens this fall in Houston! Maybe I'll stop by when I pay my Houston family a visit.

Sneaky

Last night I snuck some Tofurkey into the Jambalaya I had made.

And he says, "What kind of meat is this?"

And I say, "It's not."

Hee hee.

Needless to say, he didn't finish it, so perhaps it was too abrupt of a sneaking? I need to ease the false meats into his diet?

Bully didn't notice, though.

I let him know that if I ate like him I'd be twice his size. And that this will be happening often.

(at least I made dinner)

At least it can't get any worse

Let me tell you how my day started. There was crying. So much my face feels the sing ocean water, though I've been sitting in my kitchen all morning.

I cried to my husband.

I called my mom and cried to her.

And then I ran out of tears and decided to continue working on my portfolio.

So here I am, faced with having to look for another job, just like everyone else in the world. It's such a hopeless feeling if you let it get to you. Jobs and careers are a huge part of our identity. I've got a supportive family with lots of love, but as I cried to my mom this morning, "love doesn't pay the bills"!

I am pretty sure I'll be okay. I have a feeling this moving thing is a blessing, kind of a creeping realization that is just now hitting me in the face saying, "It's all happening!!!" (Remember Almost Famous?)

I know one thing FOR SURE. I will be wearing a white linen blazer this week, pre-Memorial day, pre- Easter even to an interview. Since we're moving to a place where people wear little white shorts year round, I am fully embracing this new identity.
I made you mine.

Take that, feelings. You can steal my fabulousness for one morning, but I will always regain it, with the right accessories, of course.

Blazer is from Anthropologie ($98), of course.  I wasn't sure when it should make its debut from my closet, but the ladies at Very Married helped a bit.

AND OMG WE'RE MOVING IN A MONTH.

News and a birthday celebration

We are at it again.

Moving--that is.

Across a couple of states this time.

Ladies and gentlemen, we will now be Floridians.

Our new habitat will look something like this:
taken from the 9th floor roof pool
and this...
and bike rides under palm trees
That's right, within a month we'll move to South Florida, where the Shawn's job is relocating him. In fact, we just flew in from Ft. Lauderdale, checking out the area. Shawn just happened to spend his birthday there on Monday, which coincided with a company dinner at Seasons 52, in Ft. Lauderdale. Not so bad, considering how I was wondering how to top the all previous years with an ever dwindling budget...
Birthday 2011 was celebrated with a North Carolina backyard cookout and with some Florida sun:
a Shawn collage
I think he had a good one.

Happy Birthday, Hubbs!

After passing the series 66
Happy Birthday to my best friend.

I enjoyed our 7am workout. I love how you inspire and support me.

I can't wait to live with you in Cougarville, USA and wear white pants year round.

Green eggs & waffles

I believe every holiday is an opportunity to color your food.

Happy St. Patrick's day. Enjoy pics of our breakfast.

Green eggs look terrible, so I ate them with my eyes closed.
This Hubbs is one lucky man. I hooked up another picnic breakfast. Today's high is 71, whoooo! And for tomorrow's Fat Baby Cookout (will post about that tomorrow) the high will be 80. WHOOOO!!

And I'm a lucky wife.

I reminded myself of this last night as we were watching The Notebook. Every couple should watch this once in a while. I spent the night sobbing and clutching him tight with all four limbs, and vowing to love him forever and to be more sweet and less Tasmanian Devil. Its a fictional story, but it works.

One of my fav once wedding, now family blogs, A Mountain Bride, has some news. She had a baby girl this weekend! I've followed her journey from bride to wife, and now mom. What's even sweeter news- she's a honeymoon baby!

Congrats!

(I just love happy stories. Happy voyeuristic stories!)

Old Tyme Pottery is my version of Heaven

...if heaven is strolling aisles of organizational products, terra cotta pots, and glasses with the hubby. And then acting preoccupied when its time to pay so he pulls out his wallet.

It is for me.

I've actually spent the afternoon organizing my clothes and shoes. The one here is going out of business so most thangs were 20 percent off. If you're planning any sort of party, go there for everything you need. Seriously.

No wonder my Hubbs cries when I hug him

Today our can opener broke and I was too settled in to go out and buy another.

So I broke open a can of black beans with my bear bare hands:
manicure still good!
I really wanted to make enchiladas.

Ok, here's the truth: I stabbed the top with my wine tool's foil cutter and then cracked it open with a hammer.
Either way, I'm barbaric, I know.
Today's activities included painting, wire cutting, drilling, installing, then I went home from work and made a raised-bed garden.
Tell my hubby I need a can opener.
